RAG US.... NAG US...

It was the month of july 1999, when we joined our college….freshers…fresh after school..no vague idea of what all this ragging is..except for the narrations of elder brothers and sisters who used to relate their incidents of being freshers..but no experience…only li’l bit of fear and nervousness…

With mixed emotions, we started our days at college..first day we went to college..we were scared to see so many gals together at one place..without any trace of a single guy…
But still…we just went ahead and went looking for our class..BCA Ist year..and then after finding it…just went in and quietly sat at on seat…it was feeling nice..now we were grown ups..in college..out of class rooms attending classes..into lecture theaters..attending lectures…the difference certainly was there…

The difference was not only in the case of class rooms, but also seniors…they actuallly were very scary..used to present a larger than life image…as if they were bosses of the area…used to haunt us…

They entered our LTs(lecture theatres) and asked us to do strange kind of things..gaana gao…intro…with strange tails…but it was all considerable..very “DESCENT” stuff….,once we were back in the hostel…and as day ended and gave way to night….our seniors started loosing all their senses…and used to turn into devils for us..gosh…the way they were..it was just too much…
FIRST NIGHT ;)

The first time they called us…they used to call us to one of the pre decided room and we all used to stand in a queue..or sometimes they made us sit on the floor..and they used to sit on beds..u know uunch neech thing..they were seniors after all…and after all this set up…they used to demand their their items..one by one from juniors…one by one…

Night was the most preferred time coz then their was no threat of wardie…well truly speaking..wardie never used to come initially..but assistant warden did come on a round occassionaly..only to enjoy the ragging episode going on…and to our utter disbelief..one day she even got her daughter with her to watch the “ragging show”

We were supposed to give our intro with some tail like…mera boyfriend mere peeche tha…and some other weird tails…(read vulgur tails)..but sill we all were going thru this stuff with ease..except some of us who used to have those crying sessions time to time....

read along for further stories of our seniors cruelity....but the biggest irony about this is that after ragging..our seniors became our best friends...

Can u beat that???

1. Once in a week outing for 2 hrs. Those 2 hrs movies are not allowed and u can not meet guys coz our “nirday” wardie used to make our gate keeper, who was supposed to be her most trusted MAN, what was his name: Basheerudeen bhaiya, follow girls and be on a stroll and look out what they are doing.
So it was kind of ‘ur being watched’ all the time…that means no space and possibility for guys and date shate..

2. Every Monday and tuesday u have to wear a white salwar suit,
Being hostellers (read modern and happening hostellers), we always had a problem with this..why do we have to do this..it felt as if those two days of dress code is snatching our freedom of wearing jeans..that was banned later on in college..

3. No jeans allowed

4 Mobiles not allowed

5. Cable TV not allowed

6. Timings for attending phone calls

7. Had to beg to savita chaudhary (our sick wardie) for every extra minute of outing..even if we had some legitimate work outside(ha ha ha..no but at times we really used to get late due to something important…;))

8. The phone calls were screened and so were letters..no privacy..your wardie should know everythin about u..except for the color and brand and size of ur….whatever..

9. Your phone can be picked up at any time while u r in the mid of conversation…there was a parallel line at wardie’s house and she spent most of her time on fone between 4 and 7 and 8:30 and 10..those were the timings for phone to get connected at hostel for girls to talk to “family”

10. No provision for making fone calls..no std booth inside the campus..and lots of questions to be answered before going out with “sushma auntie”(our assiti) for making a fone call in emergency…

11. Wardie can come up just anytime for her usual round in the hostel..to check if eth is fine..her checking generally included eavesdropping..(we saw her doing this so many times..how disgusting).

12. U can not go out for shopping..leave shopping or buying a notebook also. If u want all those petty things then make a list and give it to a Pushpa Aunty... who was assigned to help hostelers. but not to mention that she used to charge us the rikshaw charge..hey how funny was this no??

13. U can not look out of the windows which face out side world. If u are caught doing that then u are out of the gr8 hostel with a tag of "cheap girl"

14. No brothers/uncles allowed in the campus

15. Parents can meet only on Sundays between 10.00 to 6.00 p.m. Parents dropping in without prior noticed and information on a weekday will not be allowed to meet the ward. The weekday emergency meet shall happen before 6 at any cost. After that no body will be entertained

16. No body allowed in the hostel rooms. A special visitor room was meant for all meeting purpose.

17. A hostler can not leave the campus with parents also. She needs to give it in writings as where she is going..for what purpose..what time she will be back and the contact number(must)

18. the best part was that…you were not allowed to go to your own home…you had to beg for a weekend outing..at times when we even had 3 day consecutive off, she would not even think to send the hostelers back home…and reason..vaisey hi..nahin jana to nahin jaana..no matter what u do after that..she won’t let u go…even if u make ur parents call her up for that….
See how attached she was to us..she cudn’t live a single night without us all…

19. There used to be daily evening prayer that used to be held by the assistant warden generally…and if by some chance wardie came for that meet..it used to be nightmare..then we had to stand her experiences of life where we could find nothing but boasting and bragging about her own self…and her manu…her son of 5-6 years..who was a complete brat…

20. You should be PROPERLY DRESSED..no shorts and all..no skin show…but in the evening u will find all sort of dresses out.

21. There were some mess boys in babajis mess so we were instructed not to talk to them. Small kids used to serve food and teasing them was fun. The hottest of all guy was Dipu bhaiya who used to make chappaties and had a cute smile with dimple. So many gals planned to elope with him but waste all those plans were never carried out.

22. No iron boxes were allowed in the room. If u want u can give it to dhobi who used to come every sunday to collect the dirtly clothes. But we had iron box and 3 years nobody came to know abt it :)

23. Lights to be swtiched off after 12.00 but our day used to start at 12.00 a.m. Gossipng wat else.

All these things we came to know in some days only…and we all freshers…(fucchas) were already feeling very miserable as to what kindda shitty place this is…and to add to our miseries were our seniors..and their spirit for ragging us…

ASYLUM IN DISGUISE

Name of the Hostel: Ojasvini Kunj

Description: A big building baricated with walls and boundaries for safety purpose of decent girls like us ;). Hostel was some 20 steps from the main gate and was in the middle of the campus. Everybody can see girls standing and looking at the outside world but nobody can help them :)..they seemed like mental asylum prisoners..looking out from their balconies..windows..to the outer world..hoping to flee someday..

Entrance: A big maroon gate..with a small room adjacent to it. Bhadur bhaiya always sitting and watching the gate so that no hosteller shld be able to see the main road and photostate shop outside. When we joined, the gate was an old one..so many ppl used to pass that road without knowing that sexy babes are inside waiting for them ;) Later on they changed it and big board was put with the name "GVM Girls College"

The Lawn: A very neat and properly maintained lawn was there with variety of flowers. In the daytimes u cannot see the lawn as al those behenjis sit and eat their lunch boxes. Some stray dogs used to F*ck there in the evenings which we always used to watch with curosity.

The rooms: There were 3 types of rooms.
type 1: 2 seater
typer 2: 3 seater
type 3: 4 seater

Most of the rooms were type 2 but we lucky gals were in type 4 :) Type 3 were called as hall rooms and there were only 4 hall rooms & one was occupied by us for the 2nd year and then in 3rd year…we were in 3 seater…and our one roomie..swastika…shifted to a room already occupied by four gals..and why she did that…we’ll explain in our further posts….

One mess was run by Babaji but food was always good out there. Every friday Chholey bhature and every sunday poori halwa :). Must be wondering wat for saturday nite? Its menu was sexy for saturdays...Chowmein and cold coffee...We used to keep extra for eating in the nite at 2 or 3 a.m..it was very normal for us to be up till that time …we were nocturnal animals..completely..

One canteen run by Ravinder bhaiya (son of babaji). The canteen was meant for everyone(day scholars and hostellers) which used to be open till 5.30 p.m. U get stuff from cold drinks, burgers, choclates to shampoo satchets and Rin and maggi. Maggi (the favorite of all).ravinder bhaiya used to keep knowledge of each and every girl in the hostel..it was kind of a news center of GVM.

One computer lab: some 20 comps out of which 10 used to be properly working and rest all had some or other issues. We were doing hardware training at times by lifting them and placing them at another place..placing wires in plugs..doing R& D stuff free of cost to the college. Internet fee was charged but never heard of internet in first year, and later also…rarely used it for our type of purposes..in short it was useless..

One library: flicked couple of books but never entered there for study purpose.

One house in the hostel: yes a couple used to stay there.Who? he he Our warden with her hubby and kid who else.

thats all about the peripheral aspects of our hostel....but it was a nice and clean hostel..with every basic and important facility out there.
but there very other things that were enuf for us to feel bad about staying at this place..and one reason was the insane restrictions being imposed on us...

Introduction

"College and hostel life is one of the most memorable periods in the life of many of.

There is a place called SONEPAT situated on the outskirts of Delhi and “inskirts” of Haryana..and is a typical..dingy,dirty,and dead place…
This Blog will take you to the trip of a place (hostel situated in college premises), where there were lots of girls..from happening and trendy places, from backward places..and this blog will tell u how these girls got along slowly and rocked the place..and enjoyed so much over there that today despite of settling down at some of the most trendy and happening places..they still miss their vey own GVM and everything about it…

We are from the 99-02 batch and have some great nostalgic memories associated with this place, where we spent 3 years, laughing, crying sharing and caring…and learning the lessons of life in a new way with each passing day…

This blog tell as how we managed to survive in a hostel full of restrictions. The mission we created "SOL" was nothing but spice of life. What all we did there in 3 years. How we enjoyed our life. Different things we learnt from each other. Love we shared and yes all naughty things which no body cud imagine and we did. "
